My First Book Supplement

My wife and I recently traveled to South Carolina, so we of course visited the Spartanburg County Library and the South Carolina Archives in Columbia. Both libraries had wonderful and friendly staff! At the Columbia Archives, one book in particular had interesting entries: "Spartanburg County / District South Carolina Deed Abstracts Books A-T (1785-1827)" Two entries referencing William Cornwell, father of John Cornwell (of Bedford County, TN) were found: Book M, p. 139-140 Apr 22, 1809 Michael McElrath (Spartanburgh) to James Vernon (same); for $10 sold 150 ac on N side of Middle Tygar R; border: W & N-James Vernon and S & E-John McElrath and Gabriel Benson. Witness William Moore, William Cornwell , and Alexr Jordan. Signed Michael McElrath. Wit. oath Nov (omitted), 1809 William Moore to John Collins. Rec. Book Addenda - Comments/Corrections From Readers

The purpose of this blog is for the author to provide genealogists and other interested family members any corrections to errors/omissions for the book: Cornell and Allied Families of the Southern United States While every attempt was made to ensure the information is presented in the book is accurate and complete as of publication date, it is inevitable that a genealogy of this size and scope will contain some errors.  As the author, I plan to use this blog to provide those corrections. Better still readers may do the same via comments to this post.  The value of the book may thereby be extended into the future.
